The Legend Of The Castle Creature

Wherever there is a castle, there is a castle creature. This is true and has been true since the first castles in the 9th century were built. The origin of each castle creature began when the ground was turned, and the castle creature emerged from the earth proud and upright; what is more astounding is that it would appear in full dress with ermine wraps and velvet shoes.

The creature stood nearly seven feet tall with face features unlike anything you have ever seen. It had hands the color of gold, with legendary strength. The odd fact about the creature is that it attached itself to the castle being built as if to claim its territory early on. When the castle was completed, it became a dweller along with the others who populated the castle.

Some of the more notable sightings throughout history occurred in the Rhine Valley; several of significance happened along the Danube. The castle creature was no stranger to castles in France, England, Denmark and Austria. The comings and goings of the creature were silent, and it took a genuine and life-threatening emergency to bring it out, for the castle creature was the protector of the castle and those who dwelt therein. The Bodleian Castle Chronicles of the 14th century attested to this. Every castle has its castle creature - a kind of patron saint. Their names are recorded for all time in the Genealogical Creature Chronicles to be found in the great libraries of Salzburg and Venice.

The startling news is that America can boast its first castle creature at this very location. The story is fully documented when two crane operators during the groundbreaking of the property witnessed the emergence of the castle creature from literally out of the earth. It then swiftly disappeared only to be seen again by several people at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. They saw it appear and travel from spire to spire in graceful ballet form, and then disappear within The Castle walls. We have every reason to believe that it remains there.

It is imperative that we inform you of our castle creature; like the great lineage before it, it is indeed a friend with great capacity for compassion and love. The most important reason for it to be here is your safety as a guest.

If you should encounter the castle creature in your ramblings around the Castle, consider it a privilege, for you will be in touch with the creature that has remained impervious to evolutionary changes and to fashion. You will see exactly what Richard the First saw one night in the 11th century. He had fallen from a turret while making his kingly rounds, and if the castle creature had not appeared to catch his fall, the course of European history might well have been different. The tales of rescues by castle creatures are recorded in The Chronicles of Castle Creature Rescues in the Library of Congress and in the private library of Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria.

We, here on Austrian Row, are proud to announce that our castle creature is now safe within the walls as long as the Castle stands. It appears to be more sociable than some of the castle creatures we have researched, and for that reason we can only say that it is very likely that you will meet it. We feel it our duty to remind you that it has a name… you may call it “Sir”, and it will treat you as the honored guests that you are!
